Make sure it hasn’t opened behind the main Tiled window somehow. Sometimes this happens with some window managers. If this is the case, minimising and restoring Tiled may help, and if that doesn’t help, you may be able to find it by resizing the main Tiled window so it’s small enough to drag out of the way.
Probably unrelated: make sure you’ve selected a tile to animate first. Normally the animation editor opens even if no tile is selected, but this is worth keeping in mind since with no tile selected, the tile animation is likely to end up on the wrong tile (Tiled will put it on the most recently selected tile, or the first tile).
Hello.
I have been facing the same issue and after following the instructions that you have given. I can confirm the issue is real.
When clicking on the tiled animation editor, nothing happens. To me, it seems like it is bugged because the window did not even appear when I also clicked on it.
It has been quite problematic and although I wasn’t confronted with this when I used Tiled earlier today : at one point, it just broke.
Here is an example :
I wish to know what to do…
Edit : I also uninstalled and reinstalled and it did nothing.
Given the two independent reports I’m wondering if this is a regression in Tiled 1.11. Do you know or could you try whether the animation editor still worked fine in Tiled 1.10.2? You can get it here: Release Tiled 1.10.2 · mapeditor/tiled · GitHub.
I couldn’t reproduce this issue on Linux so far.
Hello.
First of all, thank you for your answer.
As for the animation editor, I just tried it and it seems to work perfectly in Tiled 1.10.2.
What OS are you using?
I also can’t reproduce this issue (the Animation Editor opens normally for me), and I’m using Windows 10. Of course, it may be due to some other factor (e.g. whether a project is open, or some UI setting).
I am using the same OS which makes it even weirder, I don’t think it is a UI setting because I reinstalled the 1.11.00 version of Tiled at one moment. Which should have resetted all of the settings and I still had the bug.
Furthermore, as posted in the screens before and even while trying to reduce the size of the main software : I couldn’t find the tiled animation editor window appearing behind or in it.
As for what it may be due to, I have no idea but it occured to me before I had changed any UI setting the first time I got it.
Reinstalling does not reset your settings, as far as I know.
Thanks for the extra info! At least now we know it’s not just popping under, but is a much bigger problem D:
I also encountered this problem, now I reinstall 1.10.2 to solve this problem
I have the same problem with version 1.11.0. No editor window appears, even if I delete all settings under AppData or reinstall Tiled.
A few days ago everything worked fine. Maybe it doesn’t work anymore after I changed the language (?)
OS: Windows 11
Hello,
have exactly the same problem with the new version.
Older version works without issues.
I’m reporting this same bug, OS: Windows 10.
Same problem. Reinstall with deleting files in appdata didn’t work, only installing Tiled 1.10.2 worked
Also just got this issue. If it helps, I did close out of the animation editor by hitting the x in the top right instead of clicking the button. Now when I click the button to open it or go to views and try to open it there it doesn’t open.
I’ve tried to reproduce this on both Windows 10 and Windows 11 so far, closing animation editor either by tool bar button or the X in the top right, but for me it always opens again when I press the button or trigger it from the Tileset menu.
So far I have no idea where this issue comes from, especially given that I don’t think this area of Tiled has been touched between 1.10.2 and 1.11.0.
Did anybody try whether this issue occurs in both the 64-bit and the 32-bit version of Tiled 1.11? They use different versions of Qt, which might be relevant.
Zetaroid on Discord reported this issue, and said that switching from 64-bit 1.11 to 32-bit 1.11 made the Animation Editor openable again.
Maatsuki on Discord reported this problem, and once again 32-bit Tiled was fine.
Their reported OS version is Windows 11 (Version 24H2) (x64) (KB5052093)
It probably is something to do with Qt, since the 32-bit builds use Qt 5.12 while the 64-bit builds use 6.8. Tiled 1.10 used Qt 6.4, and worked, so it sounds like a problem somewhere after Qt 6.4.
