Hmm, in fact no actual grid is shown in the tileset view. When you choose to display a grid, it just spaces out the tiles so that the background is visible between the tiles, which in your case is black. It currently depends on your system theme.
Making the tileset view background color configurable is an option I hope to add soon. It’s covered by the following GitHub issue:
