I’m a beginner, and I’ve watched several tutorials about creating terrains. I understand the theory, but when I try to do it with my tileset, I get the result shown in the image.
How can I set the terrain tiles to the correct size? I tried setting my tileset to 32×32, but it still didn’t work, and neither did 64×64.
You appear to have loaded the tileset correctly in your screenshot. The labels seem to be displayed a little weird (perhaps a high DPI screen issue?), but that shouldn’t affect your ability to assign and use terrains. Are you running into problems other than the terrain label display being slightly undersized?
Where did you get this tileset? It reminded me of an article I wrote over a year ago based on this tileset, which was supposed to get published in a magazine by CraftPix.net. In fact this never happened, despite multiple assurances.
Since I haven’t heard from them in half a year now, I’ve decided to publish the article on the Tiled website instead:
It first of all goes over how you could place those walls using an Edge terrain set, and then describes how you can use Automapping to automate the placement further (and mind you, given the flexibility of Automapping, there are of course other ways to go about this). Well, maybe it helps.
But I couldn’t find a link to this particular tileset, I don’t currently see if available among their freebees (maybe they were still waiting with this until the article would have been published?).
