Introduction and Query

Since you’re not the first to ask, I’ve recently extended the Application Process section with some qualities we’re looking for:

Note that we’re not just looking at your skills! What we’re looking for are people who:

  • are motivated by personal interest rather then money,
  • see value in releasing their work as free software and welcoming others to contribute,
  • will think things through rather than just following instructions,
  • and who are critical of their own work and perfecting it before waiting for feedback.

But also note that we’re a small organization and it looks like we’ll be accommodate only 2-3 projects, since we don’t have more mentors this time.

I’d say previous experience with game development is not important for most projects, except for things like glTF export where one needs to have a bit of a feeling for what this export needs to look like to be useful for game developers.

If you are serious about applying for a project on Tiled, please do post your instruction in the Google Summer of Code 2026 topic, also because I can use that topic to address all of you when appropriate.

I see you on Discord and wrote you a message, can you try to reply? I could not see any reason why you would not be able to send messages.
